Empowering single mothers in Rawang

With the help of eHomemakers and JKKK Kampung Lim Tan, a 14-week program was organised for single mothers in Rawang to help them gain extra skills and income.

The end goal sought was to empower these women with creative weaving skills (utilising recycled magazine paper) and to encourage progressive mindsets.

Through the various training provided by eHomemakers, i.e. weaving training, quality control training, and colour & design training, participants in the program not only learned to produce the paper weaved baskets but also managed to create new designs (bookmarks, wind chimes, stationery holders, etc) with the skills they attained.

Hopefully, the state EXCO will in the future consider funding such meaningful programs that are not only productive, but emotionally uplifting in nature.

If you are interested to purchase or help market the hand-weaved crafts, please get in touch with my staff. Your help will benefit and encourage single mothers who need to cope alone in increasingly difficult times.
