One of the earliest cases received was the condition of several houses in Kg Dato’ Lee Kim Sai. Residents claimed hairline cracks and structural cavities appeared on buildings of houses purportedly after a project to deepen the river bed of nearby Sungai Rawang started.
The river bed deepening exercise is part of a flood prevention project and technical evidence pointed out that the structural damage possibly existed in these houses before any work started in the nearby river.
After several meetings were organised between residents and the contractor in-charge of the river bed deepening project, an amicable solution was agreed upon.
Out of good faith, the contractor (Bina Mahir Sdn Bhd) volunteered to appoint a team of ‘concrete repair specialists’ who then did repair work on the affected houses.
